Following is a summary of short training courses that are currently being offered:
Data Warehousing 201 (1 day): Ideal for IT staff that are involved in data warehousing, or building reporting systems, as well as business analysts with a technical bend who are familiar with the very basic terms and concepts of data warehousing. This course mostly covers dimensional modeling topics such as: Dimensional modeling fundamentals, Kimball versus Corporate Information Factory architectures, fact and dimension table characteristics, surrogate key recommendations, fact table granularity, hierarchies, degenerate dimensions, junk dimensions, conformed dimensions, slowly changing dimensions, aggregated facts, periodic snapshots, cumulative facts and allocations.
Data Warehousing and ETL (2 days): Ideal for team members who are part of your data warehousing initiative. Dimensional modeling topics are discussed on the first day, which is the same as Data Warehousing 201. On the second day, ETL architectures and designs are covered. Topics include: Data profiling and analysis, source to target mappings, change data capture, staging tables, exception handling architecture, recovery and restart, incremental loads, introductions to SOA Integrations for real-time extracts, slowly changing dimension mappings, bridge tables, business rules, scheduling jobs and batch parameters, security.
ETL in depth and Informatica (2 days): Ideal for ETL developers using Informatica, this course expands on the ETL topics discussed above to include more advanced concepts such as: parallel processing and pipelining, security, code versioning and migration. Also includes hands-on sessions on Informatica PowerCenter to perform ETL tasks. Variants of this course to replace Informatica sessions with Oracle Data Integrator or Oracle Warehouse Builder are also offered.
OBIEE Primer (2 days): Ideal for Business Users who will need to build ad-hoc queries and BI Developers and Architects. Day 1 covers building of Oracle BI Answers, Advanced Requests and Views, Guided Navigation and Interactive Dashboards. Day 2 covers advanced topics of more interest to developers and architects such as: creation of the BI metadata repository, BI server security, caching and aggregation, variables and initialization blocks, multi-user development and integration with Oracle Essbase. Variant of this course to use Cognos as your BI platform is currently under development.
